Although we try to filter out as many unsolicited e-mails as possible before they ever have a chance to reach your inbox, our system is not able to filter out 100% of all bad e-mails. Be cautious if you receive an e-mail that you believe could be suspicious. Don't download files from users you don't know and don't send out account information or personal information.
If you receive an e-mail claiming to be from Aeneas and asking for account information such as your account password, your credit card number, your personal information such as social security number etc. please be aware that it is not Aeneas's policy to ask you for this type of information over e-mail. If we need to verify account information with you, we won't do it through a mass e-mail!
Here are a few tips to help you determine if an e-mail is really from Aeneas.
- What is the sender's e-mail address? If it doesn't include aeneas.net or aeneas.com in the e-mail address it's not from us! If it is an aeneas.net or aeneas.com e-mail address, you should still be careful. Some scammers can spoof an e-mail to make it look like it's coming from an aeneas.net e-mail address, so look for other clues before you respond.
- If it asks you for your account password or other sensitive information, it's not from us!
- Does the e-mail have our logo on it? Most e-mails sent from Aeneas include an image header with our logo. Your e-mail program may block images, including ours, from showing up when you first open the e-mail; but select your mail program's option to view images if you're in doubt.
If you're not sure whether an e-mail is from us:
- Don't click on any links in the e-mail. If you need to login to your account or contact us online, the safest way is to open a new browser and type in http://www.aeneas.com
- Don't reply to it! There are many ways you can contact us to verify whether something you received is really from Aeneas. You can e-mail us using one of the e-mail forms on our website. You can chat with one of our techs online. Or you can call us using one of our local numbers.
